Wednesday Group Ride

Wednesday Group Ride with A Road Bike 4 U. Starts out from the shop in Irvine on Red Hill/Main, then goes through Portola and Sand Canyon. Michael and I were late- no way to make it out to the shop, so we did a hammer-fest from home and caught the group on Alton. I got up to 33 on the sprint, but still couldn't hang on to the boys' wheels. Next time!

Check out the route!

New Toy: Idio Carbon Bottle Cages

Picked up a set of carbon bottle cages off ebay. I rode the bike down to the Post Office to pick up my package with an allen wrench in my pocket and installed them as soon as the post office lady gave me my package.

Check it out!!!

I also went on a slow ride today just to spin out they legs. They're pretty stiff after yesterday's 70 mile ride. The weather is pretty awful in Newport- it's been overcast all day and it sprinkled quite often. The wind makes riding pretty harsh too. Still I wish I had brought my camera. The views at Back Bay are remarkable despite the weather. The marsh is looking healthier and greener every year, and I'm certain the rain is to thank for all the new growth this year.

Newport - Coto de Caza - Santiago

No better way to spend a Sunday than by beating up your body on a grueling 70 mile ride with over 3000ft of climbing.

*&$^ Cervelo

So the bike shop and or Cervelo failed to deliver my frame on time again. I'm so angry I can't even write about the details, though I will say that the worst part of it is that the manager raised his voice and got angry with me after making several false promises on delivery... So I got my refund... They lost my business for good...

At least now I can wait and see the 2011 Contessa. =)

**Update**

The manager apologized and my frame is coming in tomorrow. FINALLY!!!

Crash Scare and Updates

Recently I've been hearing a lot of horror stories about cyclists around me crashing their face. At first it was just the pros but now I'm seeing dentures and stitches on people from my shop rides, and I'm starting to get really scared about racing... The race reports from Domingues Hills don't help either. Additionally my new S2 is coming in either today or tomorrow, and I'm certain that after building it up I'm going to be way too scared to crash it. I'm still debating whether or not to keep my Tarmac... Initially I thought I would be less attached to it, hence would take it to races... I know, extremely counterintuitive as it defeats the purpose of purchasing a more aero race bike...

I got started racing so late this season that I'm feeling less motivated to do more races this year. I did my longest ride of the season last Sunday (I think it was the 6th), 60 miles from A Road Bike 4 U through Irvine to Santiago, then through the SART and back to the shop. I replaced the cogs on my rear wheel and since then I've been climbing like a champ. It's awesome!

I got new tires (Michelin Pro Race 3) after getting a flat on last week's Wed night ride. The green and pink combo looks awesome imo! My S.O. ordered pink and green bartape as well... aaaah I can't wait for my Cervelo to come in! Then I gotta equip it with the new white ltd ed 3T handlebar and stem... OOO and rumors of white Sram stuff coming out in 2011... Goodbye savings account!

Will definitely upload pics of my new bike when it's in. =D
